STAMPAWAY USA RUBBER STAMP CONVENTION 2011 WAS GREAT!

I have been home for a week now and I have not yet gone through all my purchases from the convention.  I did purchase a lot of stamps to use in the coming months in my classes.  I had fun making my trades and trading with fellow stampers before the show opened.  Below I have posted a pick of my trade this year.  The vendors were great and I especially liked seeing all the new vendors this year.  I hope next year for their 20th that they will make it even bigger and better.

The classes were very good.  I just wish that the good classes weren't all scheduled at the same time.  Also why are there no classes scheduled for Thursday night any more.  I would rather sleep in and start later and have classes in the evening.  Others who are local or who have to travel on Thursday to get to Cincinnati would like to take classes on Thursday evening.  My sugesstion is more classes.  I would also like to teach a Stampscapes class there next year but I just don't know how to go about it!  This is something that may take me a while to figure out.  Teaching 40 to 50 is a lot different than teaching 20.  I would need help that is for sure.

I didn't feel well before I went and I had some more health problems while I was there but I have feeling much better now that I am home and back in the swing of things.

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while!  I will try to do better job in the future.  Please forward my blog to follow stampers and please feel free to comment.

25% OFF SALE ON BOTH OF MY DVD"S HAS BEEN EXTENDED

We have extended the 25% off sale on both of my DVD's.  Check them out at my website http://www.astampineveryhand.com/.  The sale will now end on July 25th.  Pick them both up at this price they make great gifts for people who want to start stamping and making their own cards. As always shipping is free.  The Stampscapes DVD is featured in the stamp section of the Stampscapes website http://www.stampscapes.com/information.html and also was reviewed in the News section Sept. 2010.

Stampaway Is Just 5 Weeks Away!

Just 5 weeks left and I haven't completed one trade yet and I plan to make 75.  I think I have them in the final stage of design.  I have changed it 5 times now.  I am waiting for some watch gears that I ordered which I hope will finally make me happy.  When I have a finished sample I will post it.

I had planned to take a class a Marco's Papers in Kettering, OH. while I am at Stampaway but they have not put out the class info yet.

The classes I am signed up for are Advanced Cards for Men, Stamp the Night Away, Ranger Shaker Ornaments/Pendants and Inky Spinners & Sliders.  This years class selection was not the greatest in my opinion.  I have heard this from many other stampers who are planning to attend the convention.. They can't make us all happy I understand that but the selection left me very disappointed.  That is not going to stop me from going.  The techniques and the new product you get to see in the booths every year is so worth the trip even if you don't take the classes.

My next class will be Sept. 11 and I will teach the Advanced Cards for Men.

I need your comments!  I need your feedback!  I am planning another DVD and I want to know what would interest you.  More Stampscapes, Beginning Scrapbooking,  A Technique Video with several different stamping techniques.  Please feel free to comment or you can email me at rubberstampdiva@gmail.com.  Please I would really like to know what would interest you.

Finally one of the best parts of going to Cincinnati for Stampaway is eating my home town food.  Cincinnati Chili Skyline or Gold Star, Graeters Ice Cream,  Montgomery Ribs, Frisch's Big Boy with the real sauce,  Grippo Pretzels and I could go on and on.  I am trying to loose a little weight so I can pig out while on vacation and enjoy Stampaway.

NEW ARTICLE FOR THE EXAMINER

If you go to the http://www.examiner.com/paper-craft-in-knoxville/janet-winkle you can read my new article about Stampaway USA rubber stamp convention in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I am working on my trades which are stamped creations which you can trade with other stampers.  I think I am going to go with the logo theme which is steampunk.  Steampunk involves gears, and turn of the century (1800 - 1900) style items.  Steampunk trends is becoming very popular in scrapbook paper and rubber stamping.

Please take a minute and read my new article about Stampaway!

CHRISTMAS IN JUNE NOT JULY CLASS JUNE 12, 2011

Very busy again getting ready for my next class which will be Christmas in June not July.  This is another request class.  We will be doing the Stampscapes Ornament card and the all over glitter ornament card also using the Stampscapes stamps.  Both of these cards were made using the Spellbinders Heirloom Ornament die which for some strange reason they have discontinued.  I have tried to buy some more but they have jacked the price because they are now in high demand.  We will also be making a card using Flower Soft and last but not least a House Mouse card using the Gamsol pencil technique.  I will not be teaching during the months of July and Aug. so I hope to have more time to blog.  I also plan the start blogging about my trip to Cincinnati and the Stampaway USA Rubber Stamp Convention.  I get so excited every year to go and see whats new in the world of rubber stamping.  I will also get the chance to visit my family because Cincinnati is my home town.  Below you will find sample of three of the cards we will be doing on June 12.  If you would like to join my class just visit my website  http://www.astampineveryhand.com/

I don't have the House Mouse sample finished yet.

May 15 class Butterflies & Blooms

I have been really busy preparing for my next class Butterflies & Blooms which will be held at the Stables Community Center off Boyds Creek in Sevierville, TN.  This is what I would call a request class.  I asked what my students would like to learn more about and this what I have put together.

Artlenz

The card is done using the harlequin stamp AZ 123 by Artlenz and I also used the silhouette butterflies by Northwoods rubber stamps.  The flower is silk colored with Marvy ink pads and misted and then finished off with stickles.

Faux fabric technique which I learned from Split Coast Stampers

I stamped and heat embossed the apple blossom image by Stamp Affair and then I bleached it.  I then embossed it using a lattice Stampin up folder.

We will also be doing the faux fabric technique with vellum and metal flowers using crackle accents by Ranger.  If you would like to join this class please visit my website  http://www.astampineveryhand.com/.  You can pay for the class using your paypal account or you can contact me for info to pay by check.

I am writing a column for the Examiner

I have been preparing for my next class on Sun. Feb. 20 at the Stables Community Center in Seymour, TN.  This is a technique class.  We are working with Outlines posy stamps,  Flower Soft, Black Magic and Pop-up card techniques which I got from Splitcoaststampers.  I will post  pics. of these cards later today.

I have also written my first column for the Examiner Knoxville.  I picked paper crafting so as to appeal to a larger community of crafters.  Although my main interest is rubber stamping and scrapbooking I am trying to branch out into any kind of paper crafts.  My first column is on getting started making your own greeting cards.  I will do a column about the store where I work (Your Scrapbook Superstore).  Then I am hoping you will give me ideas about what you would like to see in my column.  Please interact here and at the Examiner!  I really need you comments!  You can write you own column for the Examiner on any topic you chose and from any area of the country.  I hope you will use me name as your re-feral.  Check out my column   http://www.examiner.com/paper-craft-in-knoxville/janet-winkle

Preparing for my next class.

I am teaching a class next Sunday and I have been busy preparing.  This class I will be teaching a coloring technique using Stampscapes Rubber Stamps.  We will work on pre-stamped images and also do one card start to finish.  This is one of my most popular classes.  If you would like more info visit the class section of my website http://www.astampineveryhand.com/ you can also pay for the class there using you paypal account.

I also would like to share a card and a page I have done recently using Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink and Stampscapes rubber stamps.  I did the polished stone technique on the background of both the card and the page.  I heat set the ink because I was working on glossy paper.  Then I stamped and embossed with white embossing powder the pine tree several time as well as the words at the top.

Let it Snow!

Great day to rubber stamp in the south.  Snow, ice and freezing rain.  I have been very busy getting ready for my next class stampscapes coloring technique which will be Jan. 23.  You can check out my website for all the info in the class section http://www.astampineveryhand.com/
I am posting a simple stampscapes card I did in a class last Nov. which is a technique discovered by one of my students.  Thank you Doris!  This card has sold a lot of stamps and glitter for the store I work in.
The stampscapes cabin by the lake is stamped on plain white card stock with dye base dark blue ink .  Heat set the ink and then run it through the Xyron create-a-sticker machine face down so the adhesive goes on to the image.  Use a bone folder or ruler and rub it across the image several times before you remove it from the sticker   paper to make sure the adhesive is completely covering the image.  Remove the sticker paper and place the image in a coffee filter and sprinkle with Glamor Dust or fine glitter.  I really like the Glamor Dust.  Now you are ready to mat you image and attack to your card.  Try this technique with other stamps.  The over all glitter effect is very impressive.  You can stamp and color your image just make sure you heat set the ink.

Happy New Year

I hope everyone had a great holiday!
I am ready to stamp.  How about you?  I am posting today a birthday card I did for an employee at the store where I work.  It was done with Outlines rubber stamps, vellum and Bo Bunny Paper.  I stamped and embossed the flowers on vellum and I used a glitter pen and jewels to embellish the petals and center of the flower as well as the butterfly.  It's tied with ribbon so I can add pages so everyone can write a birthday message.
